"Where did I learn to understand sculpture? In the woods by looking at the trees, along roads by observing the formation of clouds, in the studio by studying the model, everywhere except in the schools.” Auguste RodinThe spring equinox has passed - the acceleration of day length has peaked and buds are swelling and bursting open in their due time.
Sculptors have put work in quite a few different exhibitions - it’s a bit harder keeping track when they are not run by Sculptors Victoria but still the general impression is of surging activity and creativity: the winds of change are blowing.
We’ll have our AGM at the end of October and already Gillian has found us an inspiring guest speaker. I hope you will make the effort to be there in person - as well as which we will offer the online option.
We had a great visit to Sculpture Co. earlier this month and more fascinating activities planned - keep reading the newsletter!
Many good ideas have been presented to the committee over the past year - but we need people to follow through. Some things need more effort to realise their potential, some things have been tried before and needed more work or resources to make a success and some ideas are real inspirations that take sculpture to another place. More people involved means teams can support each other with no single person having to shoulder more than a reasonable load. If you can contribute in a small way please come to one of the meetings - not only do you learn skills by doing but you also make friends - friends who are there for success and joy and support in hardship. We all have different skills, have different hidden talents too, waiting for Spring rain to bring on growth...
I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming activities - and the AGM
Happy sculpting
