Follow up from Allen’s visit at Paul Cacioli’s Tuesday 15th

For sight impaired Allen, visiting art in galleries usually results in disappointment. Most galleries will not let people touch work. However, at the Art on the Hill recently, he was invited to touch some suitable statues and enjoyed it immensely.

Allen explained how he ‘sees’ sculpture by completely covering parts with his hands and fingers to help understand the shape, texture and medium of a piece. He has a phone app which can read aloud any QR codes and other information available.

He was delighted to teach us a different way to appreciate sculpture.

SOCIAL MEDIA
Hi all,

Carmel (newsletter) and I (SM) are both doing our utter best to get as much info as we can find out to you- but help from members makes our job so much easier.

We are working very hard getting news out about shows we can enter, shows that are on- shows that our sculptors have work in- and shows we organise ourselves of course.

It helps massively if you all send me information that we can share.

If you want your event in the newsletter or Social media- your sculpture, yourself as an artist, a show you are participating… (our Social media reach is getting quite extensive) please send all details, with image or flyer preferably to Aukje; asvsocialmedia@gmail.com

If you are entering a show, or see a call for sculptors, please send it to the social media address.
I get regular questions ; WHY did you not share my show, my artwork, the call for artists, for this particular show?…. The answer is; because you didn’t send it to me. 
I find things in the wild- but if you want to be promoted; share that info with us!!

Second thing; Instagram has created a great option to share posts. If you type ; @sculptors_victoria in your post, a pop up menu shows that asks if you want to let us ‘collaborate ‘.

This means that I can approve the post and it comes on our Instagram page. This then automatically shares to our Facebook Page.
