Hello everyone,
By now you will have recovered from the Herring Island Exhibition and be rolling into MIFGS mode.As usual we've all learned a lot from experiences shared on the island - so roll on to next year! Thank you for your work this exhibition and I'll look forward to seeing you and your work at MIFGS
Thank you for exhibiting your work in the 2023 Herring Island Summer Arts Festival.
The exhibition looked amazing – due to the high quality of work, the layout of the exhibition curated by Elnaz Nourizadeh and her helpers and the new additional lights in the gallery. (Have a look online on the ASV site/ Exhibitions/ Herring Island Summer )
Although visitor numbers were low on many days, due to hot weather and the length of time it took the punt to make the round trip to the north landing, numbers were on trend for a Covid year.
In the later weekends we had invitation flyers at Kanteen – a welcome change from previous years - but we were sadly lacking any banners on the island – since our permit only allowed the festival banner on the landing which is away for repairs. The ASV committee is discussing owning some “feather” flags that can be located outdoors near our exhibitions wherever they are.
During the exhibition we made two sales – discouraging for the artists and a worry for our budget. But, as a result of Michael Meszaros selling both his works in the week following our exhibition, both our spirits and budget are looking distinctly rosy.
Sales were: Drasko Boljevic “How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb”,
Vicky Combridge “The Duke and the Duchess (white Sussex hen and rooster)”
Michael Meszaros OAM “Final Fruit” and “Winter Moonrise”
The winner of the People's Choice Award was Vicky Combridge with her "Cat Amongst the Pigeons"
