*****Ross Tin Can Sculpture
Sculpture Tasmania Inc. and The Ross Tin Can Sculpture Show are inviting artists, art groups and those who are keen enthusiasts to apply to exhibit in this year’s Ross Bicentenary Celebrations. The Ross Tin Can Sculpture Show is only one of many exciting events occurring during these significant celebrations. Last year visitor numbers exceeded expectations at the inaugural Tin Can Sculpture Show and this year we expect more viewers and sales as the visitor numbers are sure to escalate as visitors come to see the historic village of Ross and share celebrations with the locals. The aim of the exhibition is to encourage people to see beyond the humble tin can and its household use. We appreciate that most cans are made from materials other than tin, such as aluminium and steel - and of course we welcome those too. And yes, we welcome the inclusion other materials in your sculptures, just remember, the objective of the exhibition is to highlight the tin can - maybe its materiality, its usefulness, its use as a conversation starter about the environment, or a homage to the can’s quirkiness. Exhibition artwork will be selected by a curatorial team, led by Patrick Sutczak.
Sculpture Tasmania Inc. is extremely excited to announce that for the first time there will be an Art’s Tasmania fee of $200.00 awarded to each selected artist.
