Gordon Smethurst Robertson

Sadly our friend and fellow sculptor passed away on 11th June 2021 following an ongoing battle with a blood disorder.

Gordon was born in Burma (Myanmar) 1936 and lived in Burma, Scotland, India and London before coming to Australia in 1948. He went to many schools where he learnt resilience and then to Dookie College. He did National service in the Royal Australian Navy.  He was a devoted family man.  Loved tennis and had a passion for creating starting with blacksmithing then on to sculpture.

This photo was on the order of service for his memorial service and was chosen unanimously by his family as it was where he loved to be. It was his happy place.

Gordon was an accomplished sculptor and contributed greatly to the association with his reports of our activities and entries into our exhibitions. He was a kind, friendly gentleman who was always happy to help and share his skills and knowledge with other sculptors. He will be missed. Our condolences go to his family.
