From the President

Our AGM is to be held on Wednesday 9th of October. We would urge members to attend to discuss the past year’s events and to hear what we have in store for the coming year. This of course include exhibitions and meetings. Please come to support your committee who have supported you throughout the year.




An added bonus for the evening is that Stuart Purves, director of Australian Galleries has agreed to talk to us about his interest and involvement in sculpture and his thoughts about the future of sculpture. Australian Galleries, opened in 1956, has developed a reputation for supporting prominent Australian artists.

• At 7:30pm on Wednesday 9th October we will meet in the Mayor's Room of the Hawthorn Arts Centre, 360 Burwood Road Hawthorn. As announced our guest speaker will be Stuart Purves Director of the Australian Galleries.

• December - Summer will be upon us and it's time to party. The date is Sunday the 1st December and the venue Marg and Don Carey's place in Chirnside Park.

The September Meeting

A big thank you to Carl Lutz for a really informative talk - demonstration on traditional wood carving skills. And also to Meredith Plain who hosted us in the meeting room at Bulleen Art and Garden.

Membership Subscriptions

Many of you will have recently received an email about membership subscriptions for the 2019-2020 year. It should have come out in July but I needed our website guru to process it because we have different emails for different groups of members. Our guru was overseas for a longer period than expected and that delayed things. Those who paid last year get a polite request for the new subscription. Those who missed paying last year get a stronger request while those who are still listed as members but have not paid a sub for 2 years get a last chance.

In 2020 we are celebrating the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show’s (MIFGS) 25th Anniversary & our plans are well underway. More than 100,000 visitors will flood through the gates to see the showcase of over 500 exhibitors, set within the world heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building & Carlton Gardens across five glorious Autumn days in March.
