Tim Read Visit
On Saturday with the help of Google we wound our way along a dirt road out the back of Warrandyte till we found the entry to Tread Sculptures, Tim Reads property. As we drove in we passed sculptures either side of the driveway and then came to the piles of fascinating metal. Tim was very welcoming and my partner who is an ex-chippie and part time mechanic really enjoyed the tour and asked more technical questions than I did. Tim and his partner who does the leadlight and glass slumping have a small inside gallery as well as the pieces in the grounds and around the house. After seeing the workshop and slumping kiln we did the sculpture trail that winds up and down the hill finishing below the house near the river. If you missed the visit I would highly recommend ringing 0405101001 and going out for a tour, I will take my brother when he is next down from Queensland.

On Saturday 2nd May a small group of members and their partners visited TREAD, the studio and Sculpture garden of Tim Read. What an experience. It was so disappointing that so few sculptors attended.
Tim told us about his work, how he collects so many metal objects for reusing and how each sculpture made has a story. He also showed us the kiln where Rob does glass slumping. Absolutely fascinating. We went into his gallery where we saw beautiful finished works of art made with metal and glass.
