President's Letter for January 2014

Happy New Year all

Firstly a big thank you to Jenny for another great exhibition at Herring Island. Every year has its challenges but this one must beat the lot with the problems involved with the landing at Como crossing and low tide on pick up day but as usual with the help of members Jenny met the challenge and I think for all those involved it was a rewarding experience. There were 5 sales and the quality of work was terrific.

Welcome to New Members

In the past we welcomed new members to the ASV in the newsletter every few months. Due to the changes of membership secretary position we haven’t kept up - so apologies to those new members who haven’t been acknowledged over the past year or so.

Over the summer we have welcomed - and in some case exhibited with - the following new members: Saeed Shojaee, Sioma Wajchman, Martin Goldin, Heather Bryant, Susie Ashkenazi.

Herring Island - and it’s over already

Part of the set up for Herring Island happened before Christmas 2013 and all the out-of-weekend access was from the Burnley Depot of Parks Victoria. The reason for the early drop off was to help sculptors who might be away during the Friday set up - it proved useful with quite a happy little party going over to the island.
