Happy New Year all
Firstly a big thank you to Jenny for another great exhibition at Herring Island. Every year has its challenges but this one must beat the lot with the problems involved with the landing at Como crossing and low tide on pick up day but as usual with the help of members Jenny met the challenge and I think for all those involved it was a rewarding experience. There were 5 sales and the quality of work was terrific.
Jenny and I are still working on the website to resolve outstanding issues and I have pleasure informing you that Jenny has agreed to accept a very small financial return for her work. It will in no way fully reward her for the many hours she spends not only with the website but with many other aspects of the association.
We have also had a generous offer from Ken Free who although he is a country member has agreed to take on the role of publicity officer. This will be great asset to promote our exhibitions and the Association as a whole. Thank you Ken. Ken’s work is appearing as feature sculptor on the home page of the website. It is great exposure and we feel that it is a small reward for members who contribute to the association. Some members have experience of benefitting from the website through sales or commissions and I have joined their number - I have just received a commission from someone who looked for sculptors on our site.
At this point I wish to apologise to new members. I have been very remiss in recent months but would now like to welcome you and hope you have enjoyed your first exhibition experiences with us and look forward to seeing you at future exhibitions and meetings.
I am now putting together a committee for the Annual exhibition in August, which will be held, in 120 Collins Street. As we missed last year I would really like to make this a very special event for the Association. As I said earlier we have a publicity officer and Bronwyn Culshaw a very able, experienced members will organise the opening. Monica Mauer has offered to manage the basic entries. We need someone to manage the sitting Roster, the designing of catalogues and invitations and many other smaller tasks. If you can help please contact me.
Happy sculpting and I look forward to a great year of exhibitions.
