President's Letter for October

Dear Members

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter with my sincere congratulations to all the entries in the 2012 Exhibition and Awards. A great effort. The opening went well and the prizes were duly awarded. Congratulations to all the winners.  My special Thanks go to Beatrice Magalotti and all those who helped. Congratulations.

The October Meeting

The 18 members who attended the October meeting were treated to a fascinating presentation by the Internationally recognized Turkish/Australian sculptor Fatih Samiz.  Fatih came to Australia from Istanbul in 2008 and has been a full time sculptor since then. His work spans a wide range of media from stone, concrete to all types of metal and techniques including sand casting of aluminum.

Sogetsu at Qdos Gallery

"Drunken Growth"

The ninth annual Sogetsu Ikebana Exhibition at Qdos in Lorne is now finished.I’m glad that I managed to get there to see it as it was again a stimulating and inspiring experience.

Walking in to the gallery one gets the feeling that the exhibition as a whole reads well.There is an interesting variety of size, shape and form apparent that is pleasing.
