Letter from the President - April 2012

Gillian Govan
NETWORKING: In the Oxford Dictionary: A group of people who exchange information and contacts for professional and social purposes: a support network. This has become a real buzzword in recent years and applies so well to the Association of Sculptors.

ASV at Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show 2012

Morning at MIFGS
This year’s ASV MIFGS Sculpture Exhibition was again located at the Central Boulevard in the Carlton Gardens, which is proving to be a high-profile site to exhibit three-dimensional works.

News and Opportunities Outside the ASV

A mass email was sent out earlier in April notifying members of an expression of Interest process for a project in Banyule Council: The Greensborough Walk Public Art Commission.

Report on the April Meeting

The last meeting was held at the Armadale Meeting Rooms, 2 Fulton Street Armadale. The evening had to be changed at short notice to the Thursday - the Wednesday evenings being booked out totally. We had some video material and discussion on kinetic sculpture - it was fun - but only 8 people turned up.

Future Meetings

Coming up in May

Gillian has confirmed with Ben Fasham that we can take a small group to the factory. I think the earlier the better as they have a big piece that they are moving to Canberra the second week. Due to OH&S safety issues we are unable to visit Fashams in Clayton during our usual evening meeting time but we could make up a small party during the day.
