MIFGS 2025 Report

The Melbourne International Flower and Garden show 2025 has now come to an end.

This was the first year that I took over as ASV MIFGS Coordinator from Paul Cacioli. Thank you, Paul, for being there when I needed assistance and helping with Bump in and out. Much appreciated.

I would like to thank all the sculptors that exhibited and to the great team of helpers and volunteers that helped in making this a great exhibition. Including the partners and friends that got involved.

A special thanks to Jenny Rickards for the excellent technical support; Ilona Herreiner for doing the entries and photos; to all the sitters; Jenny Whiteside for organising the demonstrators and limestone carving; to all the other demonstrators; the photography team; Anne Anderson and Heather Wilson for doing the sitters roster; Aukje van Vark for social media.

The sculptures were of a very high standard. We had 138 on display from 71 sculptors. The diversity of all works is truly inspiring not only to all the sculptors but also to the visitors. The visitors to the exhibition were amazed at the quality and variety of work and were pleased that sculptors were on duty to assist with further information about the exhibits.

Congratulations to all the sculptor prize winners.

We sold 24 sculptures. Well done to all of you.

I am also pleased to announce that the winner of the $250 People’s Choice Award is Helen Jeffs for “Snappy the crocodile". Well done.

This was followed closely by Grant Flather’s “Giant Waratahs with Magpie”

It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know all the sculptors and hearing about your individual journeys and passion, that have brought all of you to be able to exhibit in this awesome exhibition.

The comradeship and interaction between all the sculptors is truly awesome. Sculptors seem to think out of the box and are great at sharing knowledge, ideas, products and where to find materials.

I wish you all success in future endeavours in making more sculptures and masterpieces.

Hoping to see all of you at the next MIFGS sculpture exhibition 2026.

Many thanks

YVONNE MONIK
