Government incentive for artists in the Geelong area

I write to your society in the hope that I might make contact with a sculptor who may be interested in replicating a bronze sculpture from a memorial dedicated to the short life of Henri Tovell, a French orphan boy who was cared for on the Western Front by No 4 Squadron AFC during the Great War. He became in many respects, the Unit’s unofficial mascot. The challenge with this endeavour is the lack of detailed imagery or drawings from Anderson’s original work. There are some grainy black and white photographs of the statuette and some other images of the lad with the airmen while they were still on the Western Front. It may be that a certain degree of interpretation would be necessary on behalf of the artist should one be found who is able to take on the project.
With respect to further information, the Victorian branch of the AFA wrote an article on the rededication and the Australian War Memorial have additionally published an article on ‘The Little Digger’

Transforming an old tree into a sculpture
“Hello all wood carving sculptors - especially those with links to the Shepparton area,This email is from the Shepparton Council
Greater Shepparton City Council are removing a Lemon Scented Gum in Tatura near a war memorial and I thought a carving of a soldier from the trunk would be a good memorial for the Anzacs.
The DBH is approx., 100cm and height approx. 4- 5 m
Just wondering what the price tag would be so I could take to my supervisors and possibly get it put on our capital work program.
Looking forward to your response.”
