I did manage to get away on a holiday
the Pinnacles in Western Australia
On the surface the life of the ASV is pretty quiet at the moment. Beneath the smooth waters we are paddling furiously.
Each of you will be out in the studio developing your own stories for our times... I’m inspired by the work I catch up with on Instagram. Well done all of you for keeping the flame alight. There are quite a few outside exhibition opportunities available and some potential commissions have been offered through the newsletter - do let us know whether you have sold or been offered work out of any of these.
Our gathering at Gillian’s place in August was indeed a friendly evening. We had a brief mention of the Annual Exhibition - a huge thank you to Gillian and all her helpers. Also see the note about hosting a gathering in the diary dates. We had a hybrid (1 online and 6 in person) committee meeting on the 15th. It is a pleasure to meet people as both colleagues and friends. Quite often, we enjoy a quiet wine and pizza before the meeting.
As you know Gillian Govan is relinquishing the role of coordinator for the Annual Exhibition. After so many years it is time, though we acknowledge Gillian is a class act to follow. The supporting team is still in place - the website based administration is working well. So the job is about talking with people about sculpture and how it can be presented - Bring fresh ideas to the exhibition! Be in the midst of a gathering of sculptors to celebrate our year! Contact the committee if you wish to be a part of this.
Happy sculpting everyone - and make time to get together and enjoy each other’s company.
President
