Upcoming ASV Exhibitions

In October we launched entries for two exhibitions - the Herring Island Summer Arts Festival and the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show.
Entry forms for both exhibitions are online at http://sculperenewsletter.blogspot.com/ Follow the tab to the exhibition you are entering. Information sheets on How to Enter and the Conditions of Entry are to be found on the main ASV website at sculptorsvictoria.asn.au/exhibitions/application_forms

Herring Island gallery is the converted scout hall on a man made island in the Yarra. The 2020 Festival runs from 18 January to 13 April with the ASV exhibition leading the show from 18 January to 9 February. In 2020 we will have an additional Friday open to include groups or individuals who need a weekday opening - school groups or guided tours for example. In 2019 there were 49 sculptures on show.

At the moment I’m working on providing activities in the courtyard during the show (That’s in addition to the demonstration day on 27th January). We may be able to attract a carving workshop - standby for news on that - and please send any ideas to

The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show runs from 25 March to 29 March 2020. In 2019 we had 147 works on show over the three sections; Courtyard, Garden and Estate. Here is the call from the coordinator:

Dear Sculptors,
This year we are trying to create a more educational experience for our visitors. We would like to organize structured workshops at the exhibition. We will have to areas dedicated to the workshops. The workshops should run for approximately 30 minutes and should demonstrate an aspect of your skill. The workshops will run between 10.00 and 11.00am and 2.00 and 3.00pm. They will be announced at the event to ensure we get an audience. We would also like to promote these workshops prior to the event through IMG promotion company Hot House Media. It is a perfect opportunity to promote yourself and your art.

The lime stone carving will continue to be demonstrated as it has in previous years.
