President's Notes for February 2025

At this time of year many sculptors are putting work into their entries to the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show. Creativity, skill and a possible level of panic are combining to bring the masterpieces to completion. Entries are due on Monday 3rd March.

Forms are available on https://sculptorsvictoria.asn.au/exhibitions/application_forms

Next Thursday the extended committee will meet to discuss plans for the coming year. Momentous decisions will be referred to members - we will be considering the annual subscriptions and the programs of exhibitions, meetings and workshops. All of this is relevant to our practice of sculpture.

And in considering our activities - let’s agree that our greatest resource is in our membership - in its diversity and experience. If, for example, you want to know about designing and maintaining your own sculptor’s website, why not listen to the experience of your peers. You can find out about free and low cost platforms, the best way to take and manipulate images, registering a domain name, selling through your website or sending a newsletter to a mailing list…. Or even knowing what questions to ask in this weird world of cyberspace.

Other activities and workshops include, by request, another mold making workshop, studio and gallery visits and more - it is worth keeping in touch with your association… read your newsletter! And many thanks to Carmel for her work in producing it 😃
