Herring Island "Sculpture in Place"

On 18/01/2025 ASV President Jenny Rickards officially opened the HERRING ISLAND Annual Arts Festival with 35 works from loyal and spontaneous members of the ASV - after ONLY one week’s Notice from Vic Parks!

It was an incredible feat by all concerned and huge praise to our amazing Pres! The very hot weather did not seem to deter visitors from everywhere in the world(!), many locals had never been to Herring Island OR the ASV Herring Island Sculpture Exhibition before! The majority were really impressed by the very high standard of workmanship, including the variety of mediums and subject matter. Quite a few works sold and we should see at least several new Members joining us, including lots of Newsletter subscribers who want to follow artists and future exhibitions - woo hoo!

Overall the general consensus was a small but really beautifully presented Herring Island Exhibition, full of inspiration and positives for the future!

Tania Hungerford
"Scars of Devotion"

Congratulations to Tania Hungerford  for “Scars of Devotion” winning the People’s Choice Award.

Congratulations too to the people who sold work:

Ron Ahl “Bird Bath”

Paul Cacioli “Catching the Wind” “It’s Mine”

Gillian Govan “Kiralee”

Jenn Spencer-Stewart “Etched by Nature”

Janice Whetton “Humanity”

Heather Wilson “Dachshund” “Siamese Fighting Fish” “Red Chameleon”

The exhibition was well attended and appreciated by our public - some passers by, some from our mailchimp invitation, some by personal invitation from a sculptor and the people who come every year… all lovely people

- it’s always a joy to sit the exhibition in the peace of the island and in the company of the permanent collection of environmental sculptures.
