Sculpture is the art of the hole and the lump. Auguste Rodin
Happy New Year one and all!
The celebrations for our exhibition in the Pavilion at McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery went very well.
Placing 69 sculptures in the exhibition was a challenge but the layout looked great and was negotiable with an electric wheelchair. The pavilion opens to the ground with big windows - giving us natural light and access to the rest of the sculpture park.It is a wrench not having an exhibition at Herring Island. Many sculptors would not agree - the prestige, easy access and facilities of McClelland are very persuasive. The quality of the work in the exhibition is appreciated by our visitors and an indication of enthusiasm from sculptors.
Thank you to all the helpers on the team, the setting up, laying out, constant tweaking of the plan, advertising and social media, distribution of posters and invitations, the smooth running of the opening .... A massive effort thank you one and all.
Our next exhibition is the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. Entries are open and coming along nicely. It would be interesting to know how many of you have downloaded the information/conditions-of-entry document. I’ll see you all there.
