Sculptors met online on 19th April. There were ten of us online - it was good to catch up with what is being made and the idiosyncrasies of the materials and tools with which we work. As a result of the meeting many of us will visit Jon Eiseman’s exhibition “Exploring the Labyrinth” at Flinders Lane Gallery in its new home in the Nicholas Building. We chatted about current plans and preparations for the Annual Exhibition. As always I enjoyed the friendship and sharing of ideas. We have plans for a “show and tell” in person at Gillian’s place in August but our other ideas haven’t been pinned down to diary dates - we are open to suggestions - let us know about things you would like to share or places to visit.
The next stage of the website development is starting. We shall build on the minor upgrade we put in place early this year and then commence the task of making our work accessible in both online exhibitions and historic records. We’ll look at the current information available on the individual sculptor profile page. All in all we make a great contribution with the website - it needs an upgrade to bring it up to date in performance and presentation - let the work begin!

President's Ramblings
March means MIFGS! Also in March, ASV sculptors contributed to exhibitions in Kilmore, Gippsland, Acheron and Blairgowrie. The ASV is contributing to sculpture in Victoria not only through its own exhibitions but also by facilitating communication and community amongst sculptors exhibiting in Victoria.Back to MIFGS: it was a great experience for both exhibitors and visitors. Our “meet and greet” volunteers had great interactions with thousands of visitors with different perceptions of the work, the demonstrators and workshop facilitators interacted with eager participants and we ran out of membership application forms. Our judge, Pamela Irving, provided an excellent critique of the works and their value - an expression of the value of each one to culture and community. Thanks to Paul Cacioli for his commitment and skill in bringing us and the work together to create the exhibition. A report and images later in the newsletter.
