Dear neighbours,

As parts of Victoria lock down and borders close, we wanted to write and say hi, and how are you, and we really hope that you’re doing ok.

Because this is a really difficult time, especially for those of us whose life revolves around making work and sharing that work with other people.
We hope you’re still finding ways to connect with all the good people around you, and everyone whose lives are enriched by what you do. We hope you’re also taking that good, quiet time to reflect… or to talk and vent and share frustrations and share what matters most to you.
Throughout this time, NAVA has prepared a great many resources to support your practice – here’s a handy link to all of that in one place:
nava.net.au/advocacy/industry-advisory-note-covid-19-response/

There’s also some extra small business support available from the Victorian Government for companies who employ people.
And Multicultural Arts Victoria will soon announce a commissioning fund for creative practitioners affected by these lockdowns. Great news.
Over 40% of NAVA’s national Membership is in Victoria.
And all up there’s well over four thousand of us, all over Australia, artists and artsworkers and organisations, and tens of thousands more on our mailing lists and on socials, all socially connected if physically distant, all sharing so much in common.
Please know that, right now, we are all standing right beside you.
With all our very best,
Esther, Georgia, Georgie, Holly, Justine, Leya, Penelope, Naomi, Sarah and Tanushri.

ARTS HUB ‘EXIT INTERVIEW’
“In a surprise announcement, Esther Anatolitis – NAVA’s bold, bubbly, passionate, political and red shoe-wearing Executive Director – has announced she will be moving on from the peak national body for the visual arts in August…
“Anyone who follows Esther Anatolitis is witness to her drive for advocacy and policy. She has the blood of a diplomat in her veins and the passion of a revolutionary in her belly to fight for the betterment of artists and the visual arts sector.
“‘Our members have come to expect that – our advocacy voice as an organisation,’ she told ArtsHub.”
