Well this is a very difficult time for us all and it has been very disappointing that all the exhibitions and opportunities have been cancelled. But we do have one thing to be grateful for and that is that we are creative. There is always something we can do. We may need a bit of encouragement at times and inspiration but we can keep occupied.
There are other sculptors we can turn to, YouTube to help with sticky problems and we may even get around to reading some of the art books that have been sitting on our coffee tables.
Your committee is also there to support you and Jenny and Paul are busy working towards setting up an online exhibition for the exhibitors of MIFGS and for future online Exhibitions.
There will be more about this later in the newsletter.
Our meeting at Hawthorn Town Hall was very well attended and Guy Abrahams spoke about our environment, his career and our responsibility. He gave credit to the original custodians of the land and the importance of acknowledging the example they set. He spoke about the power of art and its relevance and role. We can all have a role in preserving our planet. He suggested that we all do something in our personal lives and something in society. It is difficult at a time like this to think of the future but although it was early days in the outbreak of the virus, he mentioned that this could be a wakeup call. We certainly have shown that we can change our lives.
We are grateful to Guy for giving his time and thanks to all the members who contributed to the discussion. It was a very interesting evening.
Keep smiling, keep well and keep those creative juices flowing.
