See you there!

Would you like to join the demonstration crew at the Garden Show?

There are many benefits of working in public both to yourself and this Association.

One of the benefits of sculpting is the learning aspect gained from other people’s ways of working and problem solving. Not to mention the camaraderie, we do have fun.

Working in public you get to meet interested people who may be your future customers, but the immediate benefit to yourselves is you learn to understand and put into context what you normally do automatically. It helps bring things together when you are asked questions unprompted.

The other benefits are to the Public and Your Association. It means more members and the public gets to appreciate sculpture, and the contact could and does often awaken the creative person within.

So if you can spare the time put your name down and join us having fun. Tools and limestone are provided just bring an apron or overalls.

Ring Kevin Free 03 5356 9203 to register.

More Farewells than Dame Nellie Melba!

2013 was going to be Mark Cowie’s final MIFGS... and then 2014 ... and then... are we really going to work Mark into the ground?

The longer someone keeps doing a job and the better they do it the more people assume that the work happens by magic - IT DOESN’T!!!!!!

What we need to remember that volunteers need to benefit from their volunteering by enhancing their skills, doing something worthwhile and being appreciated... well Mark has achieved all of those things and needs to get back to making a living... How on earth are we to replace him?

Let’s start by breaking the job into manageable parts and also seeing if some things should be paid for. We’ve got a professional photographer to record the show now - that brings us to a good standard of recording, the website is getting to the point where we can assist our coordinator with the boring administrative stuff. Who knows how liaison with MIFGS management works? We’ll have to sort that out - Mark’s charm and magic have smoothed the path for us so long we’ve been spoiled.

If you can help with some part of MIFGS 2015 or 2016 please contact Mark or Jan asv_mifgs@sculptorsvictoria.asn.au; president@sculptorsvictoria.asn.au
