Again this is a long section - take the trouble to read all of it - there is a lot going on!

Farewell to Audrey Dahlstrom

Audrey was a long term member of the A.S.V. and a dedicated sculptor.
She died on the 6th. October aged 90.
Audrey and Andy had a property at Omeo where most of Audreys major sculptures were constructed.
We send our condolances to all her family, her grandchildren and great grandson Anders. named after her husband Anders (Andy)
She will be remembered and mourned by all who knew her.

Valda Cuming

I am very sad to hear about Audrey. I liked her and her work and I have a piece of hers which I still get pleasure from.

She was a stalwart member for many years until age started to get in the way. She was a classic example of someone who developed artistically through her contact with the Association.

Letter from Julee Latimer

Julee Latimer "Demeter"

A new state of the art gallery has just opened in Clauiano, in the Northern part of Italy close to the area where Mosaic Maesto Giulio Menossi has lived and worked for over 30 years.  It has been a dream of his to have a large international exhibition in the area featuring artists at the forefront of the art form.

His influence made the gallery team aware of CMA (Contemporary Mosaic Artists) who invited Pam Givens who heads this organisation for a look at the gallery.

It was decided that the first exhibition ever held at the gallery would be the International Contemporary Mosaic Art Exhibition and with this in mind the commiittee spent months looking at web pages of artists who are members of CMA.

A list was drafted to send personal invitations to particular artists to apply to be a part of the exhibition..
I received my invitation from Pam in March.
I am currently working on a new series of smaller, interior sculptures so I sent the image of the only one I had finished at the time.   It was accepted and I was invited to send it to Italy for inclusion in this exciting exhibition.

The exhibition runs from Sept 15th - Oct 22nd andl features 39 artists from various countries worldwide.  I am the only artist to send work from Australia.

Sculpture by the Sea - 16th Annual Bondi Exhibition - 18 October - 4 November

Sculpture by the Sea returns to the Bondi Beach to Tamarama Beach coastal walk. It features over 100 sculptures by artists from Australia and across the world. Forty-nine artists from across New South Wales, 28 interstate artists and 36 international artists are showcasing their work in this year’s exhibition. This year’s prize was won by American artist Peter Lundberg for his work “Barrel Roll”. http://www.sculpturebythesea.com

From the ABC online news

A 12 metre crocodile, made almost entirely from ghostnets, is causing a stir on Bondi Beach in Sydney. The piece is one of the highlights at this years Sculpture by the Sea. Arts project director for GhostNets Australia, Sue Ryan, says the croc was built using ghostnets found in the Gulf of Carpentaria and will hopefully highlight the damage these nets are causing.

Since its inception in 2003, the McClelland Sculpture Survey has emerged as the most important outdoor sculpture exhibition in Australia, displaying a wide range of works in different media and styles by both established and emerging artists.
Displayed throughout 16 hectares of bush and landscaped gardens, the McClelland Sculpture Survey is intended to provide sculptors the opportunity to present their works in an outdoor exhibition context. The exhibition is accompanied by a major comprehensive catalogue.
Sculptors nationally and internationally are eligible to enter the McClelland Sculpture Survey, an exhibition highlighting the diversity and invention of contemporary sculptural practice.
The selected artists are eligible for the McClelland Award 2012, an acquisitive award valued at A$100,000 (GST excluded). The McClelland Award 2012 will be judged by Deborah Edwards, the Senior Curator of Australian Art at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
The McClelland Sculpture Survey & Award 2012 is presented in equal partnership by the Elisabeth Murdoch Sculpture Foundation and The Balnaves Foundation.
The opening of the McClelland Sculpture Survey and the announcement of the recipient of the McClelland Award 2012 will be at the McClelland Gallery+Sculpture Park on Sunday, 18 November 2012.
