The chosen quote at the head of this newsletter really resonated with me - I have seen a lot of courage in the work in the Annual & Awards Exhibition. Congratulations to all exhibitors who took their ideas, their craftsmanship and their management skills to install finished work at the Victorian Artists Society. And we had a great range of work - Paul Jesse’s interactive kinetic work, Ioanna Thymianidis’s artificial reality, Marija Patterson’s intimate story telling beauty - I hope you have seen it all.

Thank you to all the helpers - you will, through the haze of stress at delivery, have seen volunteers at the door letting you into the light court to avoid the stairs, marking you off on the exhibitors register, pointing you to your location(s) - all our front of house volunteers. We have behind the scenes - our treasurer, administration, photography team, the layout team and the general support of the committee. And during the exhibition - we all sat the show and people like Jude Bridges-Tull organised activities during the show - What an enterprise! Thank you everyone.
Every work in the exhibition told a story - creatively presented and speaking to both the ideas and the materials used. Our work is three dimensional, of real material and therefore tactile - the temptation to touch each one is strong - but we don’t touch in an exhibition because we know the damage can be disastrous. On the other hand the blind and vision impaired can experience our work through touch and many artists have given permission for guided, vision impaired people to experience your work - thank you. We have already had vision impaired people through the exhibition and expect some more before the end of the show. Your work is valued and your creativity and enthusiasm appreciated.
Thank you everyone.
Happy sculpting, Jenny Rickards, President
