New Members & Members' News

The ASV welcomes these new artists into our organisation:

Maxine Wain, Mandi Oakes, Scott Marriott, Claire Tennant and Jenn Spencer-Stewart. I hope you enjoy your involvement in the ASV and various exhibitions.

Special request from Anne Anderson

“After doing most of the rosters for the ASV exhibitions since 2017, I’d love someone else to take over this job for me. It’s not particularly difficult and I’ve found it to be a great way to get to know other members and their work. You will also be helping out our association, which is solely run by volunteers, without having to be included in any committee involvement.

I would be happy to assist anyone considering taking over, to learn my process. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in doing, please contact me, Anne Anderson, on 0419 706 463.”

Thanks,

Anne

  • Michael Meszaros’ Medal Award

The medal I have received is the British Art Medal Society Struck Medal Award, judged by the committee for BAMS. It is for the best struck medal at each FIDEM (International Medal Federation) biennial congress.

The award is sponsored by Fattonrini and Sons, medal stickers in Bradford, UK.
The last congress was in Florence last October, which I attended, but the award has only been made about three weeks ago.

The medal commissioned by the Medal Collectors of America as their 2022 annual medal that they sell to their members. This was the first time that they have had commissioned a non- American to do their medal. The medal was struck by the Osborne Mint in Cininnatti. There were about 45 struck medals in the congress exhibition.

This is a pretty big deal for me as it is effectively for the best struck medal in the last three years. The best artists from 35 countries show their best work at these congresses and it is three years since the last one. (COVID caused a years delay after the 2020 Congress works were sent) This comes after getting FIDEM's Grand Prix at last congress (2020-2021) and winning the American Medal of the Year twice for works done in 2014 and 2018.

Nobody else has won that twice.

Cheers
Michael
