The Association of Sculptors of Victoria is an inclusive, not-for-profit collective of contemporary artists whose purpose is to inspire, stimulate and advance the appreciation, creation, and exploration of three-dimensional art in society.

From the Immediate Past President

Gillian Govan
Last Tuesday we held our AGM.  This was attended by 12 members at the venue of Bruce Webb. We thank him for his wonderful hospitality. At some time in the New Year we will visit him in his studio.

We also set up Zoom thanks to John Bishop for organising that for us.  Unfortunately, the volume was not good for some so we thank you all for hanging in.

At the AGM I officially stood down as president.

It was a great pleasure to nominate three members who have agreed to accept the role as a presidential team headed by Paul Cacioli.  We have had a few meetings and I am very positive about all they can offer to the Association. Paul Cacioli, who  has been on our committee, coordinated the International Flower and Garden Show exhibition and helped and supported the committee in many ways.  Gunnel Watkins is a new member who has come from NSW where she was involved for many years with their sculpture association. She brings with her many qualities and skills that will benefit us all. Bruce Webb has been a member for many years and been one of our judges at our Annual and Awards exhibition. He runs his own business, has art qualification and is very willing to help with the moving forward of the Association.

Some of you will have already met these amazing people and I am sure will agree that we are very privileged to have them to head our Association.

It was decided that we would not have a Christmas party this year, but after Herring Island we will organise a social get together when members can meet and celebrate the friendships that exist within our sculptural community and show support for the people who are generously giving their time.

Your committee members were nominated and accepted. Presidential team as above. Secretary and Public Officer John Bishop, Treasurer John Ride. Jenny Rickards will continue managing the Website and Newsletter though is in need of relief. As we all know Jenny has been passionate about the association and it shows in all she does.  Carmel Ritchie has offered to take over the Newsletter over time.

Aukje van Vark and Chris Anderson will continue the great job they are doing with social media.

Anne Anderson has accepted the role as membership secretary.

I will continue to look for exciting activities for our meetings.

As time goes on subcommittees will be formed to manage exhibitions.

All members are welcome to attend the committee meetings.

Thank to all who contributed last year.

Minutes of the AGM and reports will be available on the website.

Lastly, I would like to thank all the members, and committee past and present who have supported me, worked with me and put up with me though my years as president.

It has been a great experience and I have learnt a lot and made many friends. The ASV has been and will remain an important part of my life.

Thank you

Gillian Govan
