A hybrid committee meeting in between lockdowns |
The Future of our Association - a Proposal
Next meeting, Information & Entry Forms
At this time our Annual and Awards exhibition is going ahead. Entries close 14th September and from then on, our exhibition will be advertised on social media and radio stations and the gallery will be sending publicity to their contacts. If lockdown is over art lovers will be desperate to get out and see art. I know we are all keeping our fingers crossed. It is something to work towards and be positive about. Join our zoom on 8th September for questions and maybe answers. A notice will be sent prior to the meeting.
Our next meeting will be a Zoom meeting on Wednesday 8th September at 7:30pm. Another suggestion for our meeting is if any members would like to tell us about their journey in sculpture. It is always interesting to know why, when, how we are making our art.
For terms and conditions and entry forms for all exhibitions please visit our website: https://sculptorsvictoria.asn.au/exhibitions/application_forms . Also please note that the Information - Conditions of Entry have been updated to include the additional prizes that Gavin has negotiated - thank you Gavin - awesome work!

Supporting Wildlife through the “Victoria Sculpture Prize”
ASV teams up with Wildlife Victoria and CARE (Concerned Artists Resisting Extinction) as we encourage artists to enter up to 5 works and price their work to sell this November to support at threat and endangered wildlife. 5% of all sales from the Victoria Sculpture Prize is being donated to Wildlife Victoria and it’s a great cause.
Congratulations Kooyonga Creek
For many years Kooyonga Creek Winery has been one of our sponsors supplying wines for exhibitions openings and wines for prizes.
CONGRATULATIONS KOOYONGA CREEK

Once again the lockdown has been extended at least until the 23rd of September. Rather than give up I have managed to book the gallery for the 9th and 10th of October. This means bump-in will be on Friday the 8th of October and bump-out will on the 11th of October.
I look forward to your continued support, Keep well and keep safe

For sixty-one years I have been sculpting birds in wood. I am self-taught and was influenced from the age of 15 years on by the American, Chippy Chase, a masterful sculptor of birds…and, luckily, a neighbor. My boyhood home had a workbench and woodworking tools, and my father had access to logs of Brazilian Rosewood and African Bubinga wood. Each sculpture is from one contiguous piece of wood.
Monster Clay and other Inspirations
Recently I posted on my Facebook page ‘Sculptor Trevor C’ declaring my love for… Monster Clay, I know… sad isn’t it… fortunately, it's not my only love, just in the confines of my sculpture world.
Membership Matters
Membership Renewals
Membership renewals for this year were sent out mid July. We have had a great response so far but there are still some to come. For some people (me included) there has been a glitch in logging on to gain access to credit card payments by Stripe. Your password does not work and if you use the lost password approach it still does not work. Our website guru is still trying to resolve it. If you can remember your password and log in to the website and then go back to the renewal email it works. The alternative is just pay by transfer to the ASV account. BSB 063 105 Account No 00800382.
We will be sending out further reminders once the password problem is fixed.
Student members - at the last committee meeting it was resolved that student members would be given 3 years free membership. If you are a student and wish to avail yourself of this please let me know (treasurer@sculptorsvictoria.asn.au) so that we can record it and not bother you with requests for subs!. We are refunding any who have just paid for this year.
Do you have any documents pertaining to the history of the ASV?
For example: old minutes, letters, interesting documents about your practice. Long term members must have things tucked away that they want to get rid of. Please contact me on 0412 122 884. We want to store our history in a safe place.
