LSB artists in the press

There was a little about LSB artist and Mutti, Wamba, Yorta Yorta and Boon Wurrung woman Maree Clarke (pictured above, image by Eugene Hyland) in the LSB March 21 newsletter.

Last month, Maree’s 30-year retrospective exhibition Ancestral Memories at the National Gallery of Victoria’s Ian Potter Centre opened to much fanfare and deserved recognition. Maree and her art have since been featured in Vogue Australian magazine, online creative blogs The Design Files, Design Anthology and the ABC to name a few.

The Design Anthology piece features some beautiful imagery of Maree’s work by photographer Eugene Hyland.

While Maree’s exhibition, like every other gallery, is closed for now under recent lockdown restrictions, you should have plenty of time to visit the NGV before it closes on 3 October.

Deborah Halpern added another feather in her cap with her Queen’s Birthday award of an Order of Australia Medal for services to the arts. Deborah is busy developing her Lorne Sculpture Biennale 2021 work Ghost, inspired by memories of the Wild Colonial Club and the Arab CafĂ©.

Congratulations to both artists – we can’t wait to see their work installed as part of Spirit of Place.
