President's News

Melbourne we have Summer! And the best summer party is the ASV opening on Herring island... well... but we all enjoyed it: catching up with sculptors, relaxing after the set up and receiving that boost when you see your work appreciated and set up under lights. Thank goodness the lights are LED’s these days - remember the heat from halogens?

Jude Bridges Tull managed to get a picture of your president with her work... flattering filters are possible I see! Thank you to all the exhibition team concerned - from set up, photography, social media - even for a small exhibition there are a lot of helpers. The exhibition can be seen online via the link in the home page banner - but definitely looks best in real life - bring your friends, bring a picnic and enjoy a day out (until February 5).

Having kicked off the year so well, we’ll now launch into a full exhibition program. And here is a message to all the introverts: Please do involve yourselves with the exhibition - you get so much more out of it if you talk to other sculptors about your work, assist with placement or photography or even sit an exhibition and find people interested in your work. You will benefit from all of that and of course the coordinator will be dealing with people who know what is going on - bonus!

This year will be a big one for the website. We’ll get the committee workings onto Google Workspace proper and reap the benefits of an integrated virtual office. The main website rebuild will proceed in stages - briefing, budgeting, refining, feedback - a big task that will give us room to create, record and celebrate sculpture into the future.

Activities give us another opportunity to get together - in February we’ll visit Heide - see Jude’s note in the diary dates - I’ll see you there!

Happy sculpting

Jenny
