Seasons Greetings from our new Vice President

As the new Vice President I will endeavour to do my best at assisting the ASV President and Committee in the smooth running and promotion of the ASV.

It was a sad moment seeing Gillian (leader of the pack) step down from being President. She still remains an integral part of our amazing committee and will continue giving us support.

For me it has been a huge learning curve being part of the committee and being exhibition co-ordinator for the Annual. I could not have done that without Gillian and a great support team.

Herring Island Exhibition is around the corner. 13 to 28 January. Open weekends only.

It would be fantastic if all members (with family and friends) get to see the show.

It is a great day out. You cannot miss the opportunity of taking a short punt ride from Como Landing across the Yarra River to get to Herring Island. You can have a great day with the family and friends visiting the exhibition and chatting to the amazing sculptors, take in the permanent collection of sculpture on the island, have a barbecue/picnic and if there’s time finish up at the Kanteen CafĂ© (it closes around 3pm). Like I said – a great day out

2017 Annual and Awards Exhibition

Paul Cacioli is doing a remarkable job with organising and co-ordinating MIFGS. There is a huge workload that goes on behind the scenes that most exhibitors would not be aware of.

Paul is proving a huge influence not just for MIFGS and we welcome him to the ASV committee.

The entries for MIFGS close on 9th February. Soon the Festive Season will be over. Sooooooo get inspired, complete that new creation and get your entries in. This is a must enter show. Thousands of people pass through Melbourne International Flower and Garden show. All exhibitors gain huge exposure at a show like this.

It would be great to see more sculptors at our monthly meetings.. For me it is inspirational chatting to sculptors and seeing how proud they are in discussing their sculptures and processes. It is also a good way to get to know the individual members. Many great friendships have been formed within the Association. Our activities coordinators, Marija and Carmel have a great line up for 2018 and of course suggestions are welcome.

Looking forward to seeing you all at future meetings and exhibition

Wish you all Festive Seasons Greetings and a Happy New Year

Yvonne Monik

Vice President ASV
