Coming Up: Information, Entry Forms & Next Meeting

Gillian Govan
What a month it has been. Lots of lows but lots of highs too. So, let’s focus on the highs.

We now have 3 exhibitions to look forward to and all entry forms and terms and conditions are on our website. You probably have lots of questions particularly about the rerun of the Annual. Please feel free to ring me or better still, join us on the Zoom meeting on the 11th August.

Paul Cacioli has organised an exhibition at Mont Delancey. Well done Paul and good luck. A lovely drive to a heritage house, see blacksmiths at work and enjoy afternoon tea or lunch in the cafĂ©. We are all looking for places to go… now we can.

Art on the Hill

Luckily COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted and the Art on The Hill exhibition can go on. We have had a fantastic response with 21 artists entering 50 works. Our social media campaign has reached a broad range of people and we expect to get a good crowd at the exhibition. That being said we will be following COVID-19 requirements with restricted numbers, up t 14 people,  being allowed in the gallery at any one time. Registration and masks will be mandatory. We need to keep each safe.

The blacksmiths will also be putting on a display of their skills as well as having some of their creations for sale. They will also be happy to talk about their craft as well as the lessons that are offered.

Lorne Sculpture Biennale 2021

50 Years as a Sculptor By Michael Meszaros

This exhibition celebrates long term member sculptor Michael Meszaros’ 50 year career as a full-time, self-supporting artist. Meszaros has produced a number of well-known public works throughout Melbourne, regional Victoria, Australia and internationally. Working primarily in bronze, fabricated copper and stainless steel, his work includes sculptures, portraits, and his particular speciality, medals.

Sculptors' Materials and Equipment

Suzanne Kaldor, one of our long term member sculptors is unfortunately unable to continue sculpting.

She would therefore like to donate materials eg. wax ,plaster, clay, tools etc to fellow sculptors.  Please contact Suzanne by email:   suzannekaldor@bigpond.com   or by text on 0419591046 if you would like to take advantage of this wonderful offer.

In the meantime we wish Suzanne well…. Gillian

Donation from the Estate of Wanda Skalik-Stelmach

Wanda Skalik-Stelmach’s family wish to donate their mother's equipment for the sculpture of life size work from clay. Shown here are photographs of the equipment. One is a stand that swivels around and the height can be changed. The other is the framework. If one of your members might be interested in these pieces of equipment I would be happy to pass these onto them. Best wishes, Wanda 0402048822

Membership Renewals

Membership renewals for this year were sent out mid July.  We have had a great response so far but there are still some to come.  For some people (me included) there has been a glitch in logging on to gain access to credit card payments by Stripe.  Your password does not work and if you use the lost password approach it still does not work.   Our website guru is still trying to resolve it.  If you can remember your password and log in to the website and then go back to the renewal email it works.  The alternative is just pay by transfer to the ASV account.    BSB   063 105    Account No    00800382.

We will be sending out further reminders once the password problem is fixed.

Student members - at the last committee meeting it was resolved that student members would be given 3 years free membership.  If you are a student and wish to avail yourself of this please let me know (treasurer@sculptorsvictoria.asn.au) so that we can record it and not bother you with requests for subs! We are refunding any who have just paid for this year.

Cheers
John
