(Excerpt from Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron report)

We showcased a broad range of artistic works in a variety of media, with the introduction of sculptures adding a new dimension to the show that was very well received. We are still tallying up the final results of the Art Show but the feedback has been that it has been the Best Show on the Mornington Peninsula and the most successful Art Show to date at BYS. We had 323 works on display from 106 artists of which 31 were sculptures.
Simon Lawrie, Curator of the McClelland Sculpture Park & Gallery announced the artist awards as follows;
Best In Show – Rudi Jass with his kinetic sculpture "Silver Leaves 3"
Best Sculpture - Cetta Pilati "Beneath the Space"
Highly Commended Sculpture: Peter Hutchings - "Reeds" and "Blooming" and Andrew Bryant - "The Second Act"
The continued success of the Art Show is largely due to the quality and diversity of works on display which has been refreshed again this year to include 33 new artists of which Rudi Jass, Ceta Pilati, Peter Hutchings, Andrew Bryant, Amelia Christie, Graham Harrop and Jo Cunningham received awards. Secondly the support of BYS members and the general public who purchase the art works, all funds raised that will be used by the Squadron to support our rescue boat fleet.
2 sculptures were sold and one commission piece is being made which is really exciting.
I hope the sculptors were not too disappointed in not selling their work, the feedback from guests and visitors was all very positive and we intend to have sculpture again next year. Thank you once again for your assistance and support with getting sculpture to our art show at such short notice.

Beaufort Art Exhibition is seeking sculpture to include in their show which runs over the Queen’s Birthday weekend in June. http://www.pyrenees.vic.gov.au/Tourism_Events/Events_Festivals/Pyrenees_Art_Exhibition_and_Sale Interested sculptors should contact Annie Beer 041 736 9322.
The Beaufort exhibition is an example of a situation where the ASV can help publicise an exhibition but it’s not reasonable or possible to throw our full organising capacity onto it. It would be good if sculptors could talk to each other to collaborate on transport etc. We do have a Forum but few of you have signed up for it. Do take a look at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/sculpere-forum and think about signing up to help your fellow sculptors.
