This section is long and contains lots of opportunities  and news from outside the ASV (including internationally) - it is well worth going right through so read on.....

The Lorne Sculpture Biennial is growing and changing - it has shifted from it’s late Spring time slot to Autumn: 8th to 30th March 2014. The 2014 program will be strong on performance and spectacle. Plus as announced on the 21st July a winner in one of the sections will be commissioned to add a $75,000 sculpture as a permanent contribution to Lorne - making it a regional arts hub - quite a coup.

Camcare Fund Raiser Camcare Art Show

invitation for donations for a fund raiser exhibition

Planned for late October 2013 at a venue to be confirmed within Boroondara.
o Donations of artworks of a variety of styles (ie, paintings, sculptures, etc) are sought. All pieces need to be ‘ready to hang’ or display; ie, we have no capability for framing.
o We are ready to pick up donated artworks at any time from now, preferably, the earlier the better as we do have a location for secure storage in the lead up to the event.
o All donating artists will be acknowledged with cards on their work, as well as be invited to the VIP Opening Night.
o We expect strong support from purchasers interested in buying original artworks. Being a charity that is based in Boroondara and holding the exhibition within Boroondara means we are able to tap a high socio-economic demographic who are normally keen to support the Arts.
Camcare is an independent, non-profit community welfare organisation providing services to Boroondara and beyond. We provide a range of services and supports for people who are facing personal hardship or difficult life circumstances. Being disadvantaged within a highly affluent community can make life even more difficult. Poverty can be hidden or under the radar (eg, there are still 117 boarding house in Hawthorn alone!!).
Camcare’s website can be viewed at http://camcare.org.au/
Camcare services include:
§ Counselling (individual, young people, couple, family, aged)
§ An Integrated Family Services Program
§ A Parenting Support Outreach program
§ School Focussed Youth Support Service
§ Financial Counselling
§ Emergency Relief including access to fresh food grown in our community garden
§ No-Interest Loans Scheme
§ Grants from our Student Support Fund(including scholarships)
§ Grants from our Family Fund
§ Community Information & Referral
§ Community Development & Engagement
This Art Show will be one of our major fundraising activities for 2013. Camcare desperately needs ongoing fundraising support to cope with the level of demand. We really appreciate the support that the arts community can give to the vital work that Camcare does.
Interested artists please contact either Ken Patterson (Board member) on 0408-224-030 or Jane Broadhead (CEO) on 9831-1900.
