President’s Message
I’m writing as we all prepare for MIFGS 2025 - the same efforts to get everything just right and to keep our colleague’s work in sync with our own. And as we work on MIFGS we are all aware that the work will be subtly different when we come to work on the Annual & Awards Exhibition in a few months time.And I am looking forward to seeing the diversity of media and ideas that 72 sculptors bring to the public at the Flower & Garden Show. We have visitors returning every year to be inspired, to enjoy and quite often to buy. The 100,000 visitors will usually deliver us people who love our work that much - a welcome reward for the effort, skill and ideas you put into your work. Committee has been meeting and discussing how we keep our work going on. Upon consideration the committee has agreed a ten dollar increase in all membership fees. The next membership renewal reminder will reflect this. The increase will support the website renewal, support our recording of exhibitions and all the other member services.
As sculptors are setting up for MIFGS we have been invited to contribute to the Toorak Sculpture Exhibition - and so our contribution to Victoria’s culture continues.
While you are chatting with your fellow sculptors about their work at the show, please also think about the work that all the volunteers are putting into the smooth running of our exhibition. If you feel you could help out in a small way please step up and offer - no one will be overloaded if everyone does a little bit to help - host a meeting, upload a newsletter, write an article, post images on Instagram or Facebook... Every little thing keeps our community vibrant - and working together makes the whole so much better.
