“Last Wednesday, Dalchem, which is now part of Rowe / Smooth On - organised a mould workshop for members of ASV.
Ryan, who was an absolute legend, talked to us about the differences in various materials that can be used for mould making, casting, what is suitable for what, and what NOT to do …
It was enormous fun to play with the materials provided, and by touching, watching, and talking about it- we all got so much more understanding. Ryan had a way of not only making it sound simple- where a choice of 30-40 options can sometimes be a bit overwhelming- but also, by sharing his preferences, made it actually simple to choose the right material.
And, Rowe/Dalchem/ Smooth on and in particular Ryan, are always available to think with you about the options available, and the best way to create your project.
In the meantime, we had fun making our fingers into hard and sneakily some very soft materials- letting a container completely overflow, mixing wild and wonderful colours into silicone, pretending to make a serious mould - doing magic tricks with epoxy resin, and taxing our kneading skills- while leaving the table absolutely pristine.
We are after all, very experienced and serious professionals… right?
Gillian, who organised it all, was thoughtful enough to present Ryan with some beautiful wine, since all on offer was completely free!
It was a wonderful opportunity, and we are all very thankful to Dalchem and Rowe for providing us with all the materials and knowledge, and expanding our ability to create.”
