What happened to September?

The ASV swan gliding across the water looked a bit sleepy but the feet were still paddling frantically beneath the surface - we have a lot coming up!

Firstly: the AGM is coming up - on Wednesday 10th October, at 7:30pm in the Ashburton Community Meeting Room with - wait for it... guest speaker Sanné Mestrom http://www.mestrom.org/

Sanne Mestrom is an installation artist based in Melbourne. She was born in 1979. and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Honours (Fine Art) in 2000 (RMITUniversity, Melbourne). In 2008, she received a PhD in Fine Art from RMITUniversity.

Mestrom has exhibited in Australia and internationally in solo and group exhibitions.

She has been the recipient of the Arts Victoria Creation Grant, in 2007 and 2009. In 2007, she also received the Arts Victoria International Grant.

Her work is conceptual and experimental and contemporary. All aspects of the sculptors work which we can look at and relate to our own practice. Please come along and hear about Sanne’s journey I am sure it will be a most interesting evening that will give us plenty to think about and discuss..

The business part of an AGM does indeed include the election of office bearers and the presentation of reports. Do please come along with your input to this process - no single activity is in itself too difficult but the accumulated load is considerable and the ASV swan needs to share out the paddling duties!

The activities and meetings program is overloaded in the ideas and optoins department but rather falls apart on coordination - we have a Christmas party to organise, Gavin Roberts' visit to the vibrant Stratford sculpture and general arts scene, an exciting opportunity with a contact from Piers Watson on luted crucible casting - more on that later - a full exhibition program - it’s actually mind boggling!
