Review and Judgement
Paul Cacioli asked me, yesterday, what am I looking for as a judge?
Sculpture to me, has always been a visual language.
Not about words… but of an experience in a spatial sense contemplation.
Graeme Wilkie & David Long |
I, first, draw on my perception and then rely on a personal aesthetic, with an eye for detail and also consider the craft skills of the maker.
Graeme is the small figure amongst the sculpture |
How well does this work communicate?
How unique is it?
As a Judge, one has a responsibility to help to heighten awareness of the way one sees.
To be asked to judge is an honour and personally I find it a challenging task and an arduous one.
Thank you for inviting me.
Apologies for not being able to present these awards in person.
Lorne Sculpture Biennale is on NOW!
And as its founder my responsibility is HERE in Lorne.
PLEASE COME & SEE …..LSB, it ends 2nd APRIL.
Congratulations to The Association of Victorian Sculptors for offering this high exposure platform for ALL levels of the practice to participate in an exhibition like the MIFGS
My selection of the winners follow…
