We cooperate as an association to advance the practice of sculpture and the reputation and appreciation of sculpture and sculptors in the community. This is regardless of whether or not we make a living from sculpture and regardless of our preferred style or medium. To this end we support artists’ moral rights, we advocate a professional attitude to the production and presentation of work and encourage the artistic and intellectual stimulation of interaction amongst artists of all persuasions.

The News - in no particular order

Plenty of news for everyone! Exhibitions to enter, exhibitions to see, expressions of interest and news in general - such as:

Meridian Sculpture Foundry is offering workshops in wax working and bronze casting - you can see their program here: http://meridiansculpture.com/sculpture-modelling-workshops/  It’s worth noting that Meridian’s prizes at last year’s Annual Exhibition included a workshop - there’s something to think about! You can also follow them on Instagram meridiansculpture

We are now on the mailing list for the Gold Coast Art News Flash - an 18 page newsletter. Your editor has been slack and not gone through it for items to interest you - I could stand a helper for this perhaps? Some months the newsletter would be a better offering with some editorial assistance - think about it for perhaps a little longer than it took to decide you couldn’t help in November

I had the opportunity to go to the NGV triennial last Sunday and it was an awesome experience. The gallery features work of more than 100 artist and designers from around the world, covering from paintings and sculpture including the magnificent Ron Mueck, architecture and furniture design, fabrics and tapestry, dress designs like the amazing Guo Pei and Iris Van Herpen, to film and animation. An incredible extensive and rich exhibition worth visiting not only once but a few times. The experience is overwhelming, and there is so much to see that you really need to take your time and make sure you go back a second time, as it is impossible to cover everything in one visit. The exhibition is opened until the 15th April and is free entry. I can highly recommend this unique experience to all ASV members

Sculpture bits and pieces: I have had to pull down a screen I had made some years ago out of old tools, mainly gardening ones. I have plenty here, in various stages of rust, including 3 shoe lasts. If anyone would like some bits, or all, or want to check them out, please let me know (0401195025) or email me and you are welcome to check them out before I find an alternative home for them
Cheers, Lindy
