Hi all,
Last year we had a wonderful turn out and support at our Annual General Meeting. Was it Bruce Armstrong that drew you all in or were you all genuinely interested in the running of the ASV? I hope both applied. I think by the amount of support and enthusiasm we had during year this was the case.
Since the AGM the committee have endeavoured to support members in their sculpture, planning exhibition, meetings and events with the help of many of our members. It was a difficult year with the resignation of Jenny from the Herring Island Arts Festival committee, Mark Cowie’s decision to hand over the reins for MIFGS (though he is doing one more year.) and Yvonne Monik stepped into my shoes running the Annual. Marija took over as Activities Coordinator giving us an eventful year..
The committee met on a 2 monthly basis to discuss these and many other aspects of your Association. We had to consider and implement the raising of membership fees to cover the ever escalating costs of running the Association and how to acquire sponsors and donations. The on going management of the website was always a topic on the agenda not to mention this great newsletter that comes to you each month. The meetings are not all hard work as they are very rewarding and we enjoy a social chat with a glass of wine.
I hope you will show your appreciation of the committee by coming along to the next Annual General Meeting. Give your support and have your say.
We are really fortunate at this year’s AGM to have Sonia Payes as our guest speaker. Many if you will have seen her work at McClelland Gallery and recognise her diversity as a very accomplished artist..
Most of all Happy Sculpting
