The February Meeting

The February Meeting

On Wednesday 18th February we met at Ashburton Community Baptist Centre.

The meeting was well attended by members and non- members. Vincent Tournebize spoke passionately about his life and work in France.

He travels weekly 70 Miles to a workshop where he works in clay from models who are continually moving. While he gets the initial form at this time it is a work in progress and he works it again in his studio. He likes the feel of clay, and likes to work from the female and sometimes male form. He is interested in fertility and the continuation of life and movement thus many of his figures are pregnant women.

He showed us a wonderful array of photographs of his very large house in the countryside in France and the huge accumulation of work in the house and studio. He explained his process in firing the works in his own designed Kiln. All in all it was a very interesting talk.

This was followed by some of the members talking about some of their own work and experiences. A very relaxing and enjoyable evening.
