The Association of Sculptors of Victoria is an inclusive, not-for-profit collective of contemporary artists whose purpose is to inspire,stimulate and advance the appreciation, creation, and exploration of three-dimensional art in society.

Spreading the Load

As usual it is very difficult to get people to volunteer their time to help out on ASV activities. The weight falls on a brave few who soldier on and do far too much while the majority do far too little. The inactive majority are asked to consider contributing their time to a supporting role for the brave and active few. It is much more fun for all concerned if the ASV activity is a social activity. There is not much fun in folding and enveloping mail outs on a solo basis for hours. Sharing tasks is also a means of providing cover when one of us, including myself, needs to
drop out for a few months.
Please consider the following supporting roles:
* Assistance to the Treasurer in banking and collecting exhibition moneys;
* Assistant and support to the membership coordinator, Kay Salehi: particularly once a year around membership subscription time;
* Working with one or more of the exhibition coordinators on photography;
* Understudying exhibition coordinators in their general tasks;
* Assistance to Gillian Govan in planning and organising monthly activities;
* Processing and uploading images to the web site with Jenny Rickards;
* Assistance in preparing items for the newsletter with Geoff Williams!
We are trying to remain a voluntary and professional, but low cost and low fee paying, operation. This will be possible if everyone does something at least once a year. The alternative is a professional manager, which would save the Committee a great deal of effort, but will result in higher costs for the ASV and higher fees for members.
