President's Notes

Winners of the Andor Meszaros and
Margaret Gunnersen William Hoggan Thomas Awards
In many ways the Annual and Awards exhibition is the culmination of a year’s work.... and as with all culminations it is the start of more work... inspiration or just that itch to do things better, sharper and clearer - what is it that drives us?This latter part of the year is actually a bit uncertain - the Sale exhibition is postponed to 2024, we needed more lead time to renegotiate Tesselaar so that will be 2024 and Herring Island is next year anyway. Uncertainty means opportunity and space for new ideas.

In the online meeting last Wednesday we chatted with Domenica Wallace about the arts scene around South Gippsland, Fish Creek and Meeniyan in particular. Next spring or summer you may well see a group of sculptors taking a weekend away to check it all out - or even a group planning a weekend workshop to explore techniques and ideas.

Keep in touch and if you have ideas let’s hear them... right down to... does meeting on the second Wednesday evening of the month suit you? How about Tuesday? Alternate them?

Talk soon - and in the meantime congratulations to everyone - winners, exhibitors and life members all, at the Annual and Awards Exhibition. Well done.
