We cooperate as an association to advance the practice of sculpture and the reputation and appreciation of sculpture and sculptors in the community. This is regardless of whether or not we make a living from sculpture and regardless of our preferred style or medium. To this end we support artists’ moral rights, we advocate a professional attitude to the production and presentation of work and encourage the artistic and intellectual stimulation of interaction amongst artists of all persuasions.

CIRCUMSTANCES is an exhibition of small sculptures in the gallery on Herring Island. The Island is in close proximity to the city in the Yarra River.

This Exhibition is run by the Association of Sculptors Victoria and is the first of a series in the Annual Herring Island Summer Arts Festival.

During the three weekend exhibition sculptors will demonstrate their skills and be available to talk about their work.

The Exhibition is supported by the City of Stonnington and will be opened on Saturday January 14 th at 12 noon by the Mayor of Stonnington Cr Jami Klisaris .

The Exhibition is open Saturdays and Sundays including Australia Day on 26th January from 14 th to 29 th January 2017 - Gallery hours: 11:30 am to 4:30 pm

Access to the island is by the Parks Victoria punt service which runs from 11am-5pm from Como Landing on the South side of the Yarra River - Melway Ref 2MC2.

COME TO THE ISLAND

Bring a BBQ or picnic and wander around and look at a variety of sculptures scattered through natural bushland as well as the exhibition in the gallery.
