We cooperate as an association to advance the practice of sculpture and the reputation and appreciation of sculpture and sculptors in the community. This is regardless of whether or not we make a living from sculpture and regardless of our preferred style or medium. To this end we support artists’ moral rights, we advocate a professional attitude to the production and presentation of work and encourage the artistic and intellectual stimulation of interaction amongst artists of all persuasions.

Herring Island Summer Arts Festival

HISAF logo
Herring Island Summer Arts Festival is in full organizing mode and the ASV is again leading the festival.

The opening and indeed the launch of the festival is between 12 noon and 2pm on Saturday 19th January 2013. The festival now has its own domain name: www.HerringIslandFestival.org.au
Thanks to the Contemporary Art Society of Victoria for auspicing the process of acquiring the domain.

As usual - with the end of year panic - entries have been slow to come in so *sigh* the deadline has been softened - you can have another few days - and the website will not demand an image of your work - sketches or images can be emailed to: asv_hisaf@sculptorsvictoria.asn.au.

Yes it’s a tough gig being organised at this time of year - witness this being a combined November December newsletter - but the rewards of the effort are great. We all have a lot of fun on the island - a bush holiday that takes minimal time to get there and you can go out to dinner afterwards - or even take a river cruise if you are flush with funds after selling all your work.

Invitations will be sent out shortly.

Even if you are not exhibiting you are welcome to demonstrate sculpture in the courtyard or sit the exhibition - that’s a great way to meet some interesting people and to check out the island for next time.

Looking for ward to seeing you there.
